Cesare Pavese Quotes: Cesare Pavese was born on Sept. 9, 1908, Santo Stefano Belbo, Italy. He was one of the most creatively proficient novelist and translator who introduced modern US and English writers to Italy. His works represented literature of an age for the Italians. He is widely considered among the major authors of the 20th century in his home country. In 1950, he was awarded with the Strega Prize for ‘La Bella Estate’, comprising three novellas: ‘La tenda’, written in 1940, ‘l diavolo sulle colline’ (1948) and ‘Tra donne sole’ (1949). He died on Aug. 27, 1950.
