He was born on 7 May 1861. As an Author of Gitanjali and its “profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse”, he became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. Tagore was popularly known as “Gurudev.” His major works included Gitanjali, a world-famous poetry book; Gora and Ghare-Baire. He died on 7th August 1941.
