Samuel Johnson Quotes : Samuel Johnson often referred to as Dr Johnson was born on September 18, 1709, in Lichfield, Staffordshire, England. He was an English writer who made lasting contributions to English literature as a poet, essayist, moralist, literary critic, biographer, editor, lexicographer and one of the most famous literary figures of the 18th century. His best-known work is his ‘Dictionary of the English Language’. He was also known for his essay collections, biographies and the fable adaptation The History of Rasselas, Prince of Abissinia. Revered for his enduring witticisms, Johnson died on December 13, 1784.
