Virgil Quotes

Virgil Quotes : Publius Vergilius Maro, usually called Virgil or Vergil in English was born on October 15, 70 B.C., in Andes, Italy. He was an ancient Roman poet of the Augustan period. He is known for three major works of Latin literature, the Eclogues, the Georgics, and the epic Aeneid. Virgil’s poetry became greatly admired by the Romans with his famous poem, the Aeneid, which is still regarded as a literary masterpiece today. A testament to this admiration can be found in Dante’s epic poem, Divine Comedy. In Divine Comedy, Virgil serves as Dante’s guide as he travels through Hell to the gates of Heaven. Virgil died in Brundisium, Italy, on September 21, 19 B.C.
